A sweet new video for Gauntlet Hair’s single “Top Bunk” off of their new, self-titled full length available on Dead Oceans
Flying Lotus - Mister Murky Socks →
Flying Lotus threw a new track up on his Soundcloud yesterday, and similar to everything else he’s ever done, its pretty spectacular. An off-time cacophony of clicks and clacks and heavy bass mix with some fuzzy synths to make a very stylish track. Check it out below.
Trash Talk give the people over at Pitchfork quite a display with their harsh and heavy track “Birth Plague Die”, off of their self-titled full length. Trash Talk has a new EP “Awake”, which is available over at True Panther Sounds
Bleached - Electric Chair →
Even though summer ended a while back, groovy and beachy summer tunes must continue! Bleached is sister Jennifer and Jessie Clavin, who have a new 7” coming out in a week on Dec 6 via Sucide Squeeze Records. Check out the b-side of said 7” “Electric Chair”, which is a fuzzy and fun pop-punk jam. If you were a fan of Yuck’s self-titled release earlier this year, be...
The boys from Das Racist got to display their craft on Conan last night, and Dap even jumped in on some of the lyrics. Of course it’s against their steeze to give too much energy for the performance, but its enjoyable nonetheless especially the part where Kool A.D. jams out on drums and a “Michael Jackson” comes out and dances. Check er out.
Bon Iver - Hinnom, TX Music Video →
Maybe its just me, but pretty much every video player except for youtube and vimeo are the most difficult things to work with, and it consistently screws up the posts I try to make. How hard can it be to make a video embeddable? Whatever… Anyways, heres the next installment from Bon Iver’s highly acclaimed new full length, “Hinnom, TX”, a beautiful and calm video for a...
Another video from the people over at For No One, this time Girls take the stage and plays “Love Like a River” for no one but themselves.. and a bunch of cameras. Girls newest release, Father, Son and Holy Ghost is available over at True Panther
11/27/2011 Playlist →
What’s up y’all, since there isn’t much going on music-wise recently, I put together this beaut of a playlist for you to enjoy. It basically features a bunch of tracks I love, which I think you will love too. Most of them are from the last couple weeks of releases, with a couple older ones thrown in there. The tracklist is below. The list isn’t numbered, so it may be in...
I posted earlier this week about The War On Drugs trip over to Daytrotter, where they played a great live set. Since you can’t always watch the bands at Daytrotter, check out this video of the song “Baby Missles” being performed live a little while back.
Caveman released their newest album CoCo Beware just last week, and their name seems to be gaining a lot of buzz. I must say, it is a pretty unique sound, with Dirty Beaches vibes on some guitar riffs, while Kurt Vile influences on others. Check out the music video for the track “Easy Water”, and if you like it head on over to Magic Man! Records, thats the facebook, I can’t seem...
The Dodos - So Cold →
The Dodo’s already made one of my lists so far this year with their great full length No Color, which came out on French Kiss. They just released a new Mp3 that wasn’t featured on the album for free download. The single features the same great guitar work and catchy vocal melodies that made No Color such a triumph. All you have to do is exchange your email address.
Another video that might just have to be slapped into my Favourite Music Videos of 2011 right off the bat. This is Blu with his new track “Doinnothin’” which features UGod as well. The track was also produced by the one and only Flying Lotus, who definately adds some spice to this song. Check it out.
Supreme Cuts posted this video for their amazing track “Trouble” a couple weeks back, check out the dark and gloomy music video above.
Emancipator is one artist that I have loved for quite a while now. Better known as Douglas Appling, Emancipator makes some of the most smooth, whistful beats i’ve heard in a long time. Its the kind of music that you can throw on no matter the mood, and it will send you into a state of bliss. Emancipator released a remix album a little while back, which you can stream below. It’s a...
The War On Drugs - Daytrotter Session →
Back in late October, Adam Granduciel and the guys from The War on Drugs took a trip over to Daytrotter to bang out a few tracks off of their amazing 2011 release Slave Ambient. They even combine the songs “Best Night” and “I Was There” into one amazing 12 minute masterpiece. Go over and listen to their session at Daytrotter

Darkside - Darkside EP →
I meant to post this a couple days ago, but either way all of you need to check out this new project from one of my most loved artists of 2011 so far, Nicholas Jaar. He has joined forces with guitarist Dave Harrington to create this beautiful little EP under the name Darkside. An appropriate name once you listen to these slow, dark and ethereal tracks. The EP is out on Nicolas Jaar’s own...
An absolute gem that somehow seemed to slip by a lot of people: Dirty Beaches - White Sands The song is off of Zhang’s 2009 release Night People, and the video is directed by Tsien-Tsien Zhang. Check it out.
High High’s is one group that is certainly on the rise. Check out their new video for the song “Flowers Bloom”, which will be on their self-titled EP which comes out next week on Small Plates.
James Blake - At Birth →
In case anyone out there isn’t aware yet, dub “wunderkind” James Blake will be releasing his third release of 2011, Love What Happened Here on December 11 via . So far two of the tracks off the EP have been heard: “Curbside” as well as the title track “Love What Happened Here”. The third and final installment of this EP comes with “At...
Gold Panda - Through Clouds →
I’m not 100% on the deal with this certain track, but from what I can gather Gold Panda does a little remix work on his own track. “An Iceberg Hurled Northward Through Clouds” was released a little while back as a single, and was recently featured on the DJ Kicks mix that Gold Panda whipped up. Either way, Gold Panda’s work is not something to pass up, even if its him...
A new video from the one and only Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire, this time for the track “Lou Ferigno’s Mad” off his Lost in Translation mixtape that came out recently. This guy sure knows how to stick to his roots, a true NYC rapper. Download Lost in Translation for free over at Mishka’s Bandcamp
Star Slinger - Dumbin' (Diplo Remix) →
A little while back I posted about Machester’s Star Slinger releasing his first official single “Dumbin”. The single was released through GreenLabelSound, and now Mad Decent mastermind Diplo has gotten his hand on the track. He takes what was a soulful pop jam as the original, and adds some club atmosphere to the track to make it all the more danceable. Check out the remix, as...
Feist just released this new video for her single “How Come You Never Go There”, which comes off of Metals, her newest effort, which is now available via Cherrytree Records
RX Bandits - Daytrotter Session →
We’ve been meaning to post more Daytrotter sessions weekly, and I swear I’ll start keeping up with it eventually, since there are always good things happening over there. RX Bandits recently visited the studio and recorded a 5 song session, which is available for streaming over at Daytrotter. Also, something Daytrotter has posted recently is asking for donations to keep the site...
It’s weird when you wonder about what happened to an artist, and they appear in the news the next day. That’s happened with Philadelphia’s Chiddy Bang, who after releasing multiple mixtapes over the last couple of years kind of flew off the radar for me. They did release their Peanut Butter and Swelly mixtape earlier this year, but I didn’t find it as powerful as the...
Keep Shelly in Athens - Our Own Dream (Blackbird... →
Blackbird Blackbird remains one of my favourite artists right now with his whistful, dreamy electro-pop attitude. Almost every track by the artist hits you in a different way, and his remixes are always surprisingly original. He has a new remix for us, this time for another one of my favourite artists: Keep Shelly in Athens, a group that takes indie and pop to a much deeper level. It’s no...
Boston’s Defeater became a large name in hardcore in a short period of time a couple years back, and they have cemented themselves in their place in hardcore today with their fast, but often calm style. Their newest effort Empty Days and Sleepless Nights came out earlier this year on Bridge Nine, and they just recently released this video for the track “Empty Glass”. Check it...
Crystal Stilts - Radiant Door EP STREAM →
Maybe its just getting easier for bands and artists to have multiple releases in a year, because it seems to be happening a lot. The music world is exploding with talent, and i love it. Crystal Stilts released their Sophomore LP In Love With Oblivion earlier this year, which I loved, and even threw on our Top Releases of 2011(so far). The New York group has put their second release of 2011, an...
