One of the beat farm’s favourtie releases so far this year has to be Yuck’s debut self-titled LP. It’s a blend of indie, rock and alternative that just takes you over from start to finish. They have recently released a B-Side track “Doctors on my Bed”, which didn’t make the cut for the full length. The group posted the track on their soundcloud for anyone who hasn’t heard it. Give it a listen below.

Odd Future’s Tyler, The Creator is certainly getting the most hype lately with performances at SXSW and Thrasher aswell as his disturbing video for the single “Yonkers”. One of the other great members of the group, Domo Genesis who released the great “Rolling Papers” a little while back teamed up with Hodgy Beats to make this banging single.
There isn’t any word of a new Domo Genesis full length in the near future, but this track will certainly tide us over for a little while.
And for anyone who missed it, Tyler, the Creator’s “Goblin” is being released on May 10 on Fat Possum.

Death Cab for Cutie is officially back with a new MP3 entitled “You Are A Tourist”. The song has less prominent guitar work, allowing for a calmer, almost smoother Death Cab than you’re used to. Both Ben Gibbard and Nick Harbor have said that this is going to be their “least guitar centered album thus far”. With this track as a hint, it sounds like a interesting and good move on their part.
Check out the single “You Are a Tourist” below, and grab yourself a copy of the groups new album “Codes and Keys” on May 31st when it hits record stores.

1,2,3 is a relatively new band from Pittsburgh, and have just been signed to Frenchkiss Records. They have announced a full length release summer this year, but until then have released the two great tracks “Heat Lightnin’” and “Riding Coach”.
They have a great mix of ambient guitars with soft synths making for a dreamy sound. The tracks are made even smoother with the beautiful falsetto of Nic Snyder. You can download these tracks by simply providing an email address.

We Are Trees have just released their newest EP “Girlfriend”, a great following after their first album “Boyfriend”. The songs are just as heartful and catchy as usual, a proper response to the great “Boyfriend” EP. Give the EP a listen below
The songs are available on ITunes, or you can visit their Bandcamp

UK’s Gold Panda has surprised us with a new album, which was officially released yesterday, on the 22nd. The album starts with the track “Quitters Raga”, which was released previously as a single, but justly deserves a spot on a full length.
The rest of the album is just what you’d expect from this extremely talented artist. the beat farm’s Soundcloud is down temporarily, so I cannot preview any new tracks right now. Give the first song on the album “Quitters Raga” a listen until then.
You can purchase the album HERE.

After releasing the amazing “For Emma, Forever Ago” in 2008, and following that with 2009’s “Blood Bank” EP, everyone is eager to know what this group will do next. Leadman Justin Vernon has been helping with other projects with the likes of Anais Mitchell and Gayngs, but has recently released news of the groups newest album at an interview.
“Letters to Marvin” is set for a June 20th release on JAGJAGUWAR.

After just releasing the 3-song solo EP that Robin Pecknold did with Ed Droste, Fleet Foxes has released another new track to tide us over until the May 3 drop of their new LP. “Battery Kinzie” is a great groovy jam, another perfect addition to my spring/summer playlists which are already coming together.

Cults have finally released another new track from their upcoming album titled “You Know What I Mean”. The song was uploaded by the band a couple days ago, and though it may not be as immediately catchy as “Go Outside”, it’s still another great jam.
Their new self titled full length is going to be out May 30 on Columbia/In the Name Of. Check out the new single “You Know What I Mean” below.

Two more live sets from SXSW down in Austin, Texas.
First is Merrill Garbus, better known lately as tUnE-yArDs. Her sophomore album comes out April 19th via Beggars Group.
Live set HERE
Second is the amazing Kurt Vile, who’s new album “Smoke Ring For My Halo” is nothing short of amazing. Unfortunately he had a bag stolen the night before the performance, which took away from some of the specific sounds in the set. It sounds amazing nontheless.

Alex Zhang Hungtai, AKA Dirty Beaches has been getting quite the amount of attention lately, and has just given us another reason to keep our attention towards him. He has recently released his “Royal Flush” mixtape for free download, which is filled with mostly old school riffs, jazz and blues guitars, and classic hip hop.
Aside from this groovy little mixtape, Dirty Beaches is set to release his debut album “Badlands” on the 27th. Listen and download the mixtape below, as well as an absolutely great song off “Badlands” titled “Lord Knows Best”.

NewVillager is an artist collective based out of San Francisco and Brooklyn . They released a music video for the single “Lighthouse” a few weeks ago, and having recently been signed to IAMSOUND, they have dropped another fresh track. “Say the Code” has the same groove and flow that “Lighthouse” encapsulated, adding a bit more to the lyrical side, making for another great tune.
Check out the video for “Lighthouse” below, and listen to the new single “Say the Code”

Recently, rumors about a new supergroup forming have been circulating around, and it is very true! Rapper P.O.S has decided to connect with Chris #2 of Anti-Flag, Wade of Alexisonfire and a member of the AKA’s to create what might just be the most interesting sound this year. They apparently had been talking about forming a group on a tour together, so they recorded this track on one of the buses.
It reminds me a bit of last year’s Gayngs release, with musical influence coming from many different places, along with all the talent necessary. However, since the influences of Anti-Flag and Alexisonfire are in the mix, we can expect something much more raw than the Gayngs release. They have released one track recently, which should be featured on a 7 inch they will be releasing on May 31st.

After dropping the killer single that took the world (at least the youtube world) by storm, Tyler, The Creator has officially set a date for his newest LP “GOBLIN”, which is going to be available on XL recordings on May 10.
More information on pre-order and a 10-20 second preview of another track off GOBLIN, click HERE.

As most of you already know, multiple talented artists have been travelling down to Austin for the SXSW “South by Southwest” event. Everyday, usually premiering on IFC, there are performances from live artists, as well as interviews, and much more.So far, SXSW has posted 3 amazing live sets by the likes of James Blake, Yuck, an Smith Westerns. Each live set is embedded below, check them out!
The best part is that there is still more to come from SXSW yet, with a performance by Portugal, the Man which happened yesterday. Performing today are The Antlers, WILD FLAG, tUnE-yArDs and a few more. Lastly, on the final day of the event (the 19th), the amazing Kurt Vile will be performing, as well as Bright Eyes.
There is certainly a lot going on in these next few days, so if you need any kind of music fill, be sure to head on over to SXSW. You can also download these live sets, except for James Blake’s for some reason.
The embeds aren’t cooperating, so simply click the links to visit the SXSW page for the set.

After Radiohead surprised all their fans with the release of their newest addition “The King of Limbs”, Thom Yorke is keeping at work, but now with dubstep artist Burial and the electronic sylings of Fout Tet. They have released two tracks for listening, “Ego” and “Mirror” for listeners until the release.
The album is being released on March 21st via Four Tet’s Text label, and was available online, but to no ones surprise has already sold out.

Deadmau5, easily one of the biggest names in House music today has released a couple new track for everyone’s enjoyment. Although a long one, “HR 8938 Cephei” has a very slow, but solid build, and eventually climaxes into your classic, groovy, in your face vibe.
The second track “Bleed” is one of the slowest tracks I’ve ever heard from the artist, almost exhibiting more of a trance sound than your typical Deadmau5 House. Maybe it’s foreshadowing a possible change in the artists style? After all, we all have to innovate. And personally, I’m almost liking this Deadmau5 a slight bit more.

After last years heavily acclaimed release “High Violet”, The National recently decided to make a single for the soundtrack of the movie “Win Win”. The song also features the gentle vocal stylings of Sharon van Etten, making it just that much better.
The song plays through the credits of the movie unfortunately, but you can listen and download the great single here.

Thats fucking right everyone, the news going around the past week is indeed true. French producers Gaspard Auge and Xavier de Rosnay better known to the globe as Justice are releasing their follow up to 2007’s “†” which ended up being a major, major success.
They haven’t released any official mp3’s yet, the first song “Civilization” will be released on April 4 as a single. The song is featured on a Adidas shoe commercial, which has been audio ripped for your pleasure. From the 2 minute sample in the commercial, it certainly sounds like the French producers won’t disappoint. Are you really surprised?

Sub Pop Records have released a certain gem recently. Dum Dum Girls is Los Angeles artist Dee Dee, who released her debut LP “I Will Be” on Sub Pop last year. This EP, though quite short packs quite a beautiful punch. Maybe it’s just me getting too stoked for the warming weather, but this is another great release to introduce spring.
“He Gets Me High” was released on March 1st on Sub Pop, give the first track off the EP “Wrong Feels Right” a listen and download below.

Another one of the beat farm’s most anticipated released for 2011 was Siriusmo’s debut LP “Mosaik”. The album hit stores on March 1st from Monkeytown records, and having heard the title track before the album hit, the excitement was building.
After a first listening, the album is already shaping up to be one of the best of the year. With a range of melodies and sounds throughout the album, it is hard to lose focus on any of these tracks. Some of the best production work I’ve heard so far in 2011, let alone one of the most unique sounds in electronic music for at least 5 years or so.
Listen and Download a couple other tracks featured on the album, the powerful and groovy “Good Idea” and the much more mellow, but equally amazing “Nights Off”.
I’ve also included the title track we posted a while back “Mosaik”

Another band that has been in my head lately is White Denim, who have recently released the title track of their next full length “Drug”. The song has groovy, melodic guitars intertwined with an always groovy bassline and all topped with the relaxed vocals of James Pertralli.
“Drug” is set for a May 24th release on Downtown records, but until then download and enjoy the single “Drug”.

The long awaited second full length from indie popsters The Pains of Being Pure of Heart is now being streamed on their website.
This is probably the groups most rock centered album so far, but I for one, am loving it. This album will be the perfect goodbye to all of this snow, and a happy hello to spring! The album is set to hit shelves in a couple weeks on the 29th, so listen to it and all its beauty here, and grab yourself a copy in a couple weeks.
