Amir Mohamed el Khalifa, AKA Oddisee is a very talented producer out of Washington D.C. who released one of my more listened to mixtapes of last year, Rock Creek Park with its beautifully built string sections and hip hop inspired beats. Today sees the release of his debut album People Hear What They See, which is filled with the same mannerisms and beauty as Oddisee’s previous mixtapes. One thing that stands out on this single “Way In Way Out” is that Oddisee throws some lyrics onto his hip-hop inspired mixes, giving the album a great new flavour. Not every track features lyrics, but the tracks like “Way In Way Out” work all too well with Oddisee’s boom bap style delivery.
